Instructions
Beignet Waffles
- While a waffle maker is preheating melt the butter in a saucepan with the sugar and water. Stir and heat until the butter is fully melted.
- Add the flour and stir until the dough becomes a ball and separates form the pot. Cook for 2 minutes and remove from heat.
- Whip in the eggs and stir until the dough is a uniform consistency, about 1 minute. Divide into 4 sections.
- Place one section into a greased waffle maker. Cook until outside is golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy! If your waffle maker makes multiple waffles at a time, put 1/4 of the dough into each waffle section to cook.
Cafe au Lait Syrup
- Add the brewed coffee to the sweetened condensed milk and mix to combine. For a stronger coffee flavor add more coffee, or brew stronger coffee. Drizzle over waffles and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
This waffle mix will not look like regular waffle mix. It should be a thick ball of dough.
Here's a well priced dark roast coffee with chicory if you want that New Orleans cafe au lait flavor.
