These sweet honey shortbread bars are a light dessert. The buttery crust combined with the honey and nut topping make for a delicious dessert for only $5 per batch!
These bars were inspired by a cookie we had at a bee farm in Hawaii. The pairing of the crust with the honey is a great combination that will keep you coming back for more!
Instructions
Shortbread Crust
- Preheat the oven to 350F.
- Beat the butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat until combined, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally.
- Beat in the flour on low speed until combined. Dough should be crumbly. Press the crust mixture into the bottom of a 13x9 glass baking dish.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the crust is a light golden brown.
Honey Topping
- While the crust is baking add the honey and heavy cream to a microwave safe glass measuring cup or mixing bowl. Microwave on high for 30 second intervals until the honey is boiling. Stirring every 30 seconds, about 1.5 minutes total.
- Mix the honey and cream together until fully combined. When the crust is done baking pour the honey cream mixture evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle the nuts across the top of the honey mixture and let cool until the honey topping has set. Cut into bars to serve and enjoy!
