The Brazilian national cocktail is the Caipirinha. It’s a strong drink traditionally made with lime, sugar, ice and cachaça; a Brazilian liquor distilled from sugar cane. Cachaça to me tastes like a cross between rum and tequila and is what gives this drink it’s unique flavor and strength.
For only $1.25 per drink whip up a batch to enjoy this summer!
I’ve had good luck finding cachaça at Total Wine. I’ve tried the Pitu, 51, and Leblon brands and they are all smooth and delicious.

Total Cost Per Drink: $1.20
Traditional Caipirinha recipes do not make the sugar into a simple syrup but I've found that the drink is too grainy. The syrup makes it much smoother and easier to mix.
